Christmas in Nigeria
A Celebration That Shines Even in Difficult Times
A recent report estimates that in the first 220 days of 2025, over 7,000 Christians were killed in Nigeria. As we recognize the suffering and fear that so many communities are facing, we want our CARITAS family to know that we remember them, we pray for them, and they are not alone.
In moments like these, even a simple Christmas gathering becomes a powerful sign of hope. It is a reminder that joy is still possible, that God is still near, and that our children are surrounded by a global Catholic family that cares for them deeply.

We pray that each year, our Nigerian children and their families can gather for a simple but deeply meaningful Christmas celebration. For many of these children, who come from extremely poor households, this may be the only festivity they experience all year.
The celebration includes:
-
A special Christmas Mass
-
A joyful dance gathering (often with Christmas hats!)
-
Dinner for all the families
-
Small trinkets or gifts for the children
-
Time to pray, sing, laugh, and experience the warmth of community

Total Needed: $500
This small budget provides:
-
Venue
-
Simple decorations
-
Christmas hats and small trinkets
-
Dinner with cake for the families
Voices of the Celebration
We have two short videos from last year’s celebration:
-
The children singing Silent Night
-
A joyful clip of a few Kids Dancing
These moments express exactly what this gathering means for them - joy, innocence, and the beauty of faith lived in community.

Your gift to this campaign does more than fund a party.
It brings joy, strengthens community, and assures our children that they are loved and remembered, especially in a year marked by hardship and danger.
