Bringing Free Medical Care to an Entire Community

On Friday, August 7th, 2026, CARITAS For Children will celebrate 25 years of service in Uganda with a special outreach event: a free, one-day medical camp serving up to 1,000 people in need.

One day can change a life. Your support makes it possible.

For many families in this region, access to basic healthcare is limited or simply unaffordable. Conditions that are easily treatable (infections, dental pain, and vision problems) often go untreated for years.

To mark this milestone, we want to give something meaningful to the community that has been part of our mission for so long: a full day of professional medical care —completely free of charge.

What the Medical Camp Will Provide

1. Dental Care
Dental Care in Uganda - Teddy

Many in the community suffer from untreated dental pain and infections due to the lack of accessible dental services.

Services will include:

  • Oral examinations
  • Identification of cavities, gum disease, and infections
  • Tooth extractions
  • Temporary fillings
  • Management of dental pain and infections
  • Prescription of antibiotics and pain medication

2. Ophthalmology (Eye Care)

Poor vision and untreated eye infections often prevent children and adults from learning, working, and fully participating in daily life.

Eye care services will include:

  • Visual acuity testing
  • Comprehensive eye examinations for children and adults
  • Diagnosis of common eye conditions
  • Treatment of infections and inflammation
  • Prescription eye drops and medications
  • Distribution of reading glasses or prescription glasses
  • Referrals for cataract surgery or advanced eye care when needed

3. General Medical Care

  • Health education for patients and families
  • Referral of complicated cases to nearby health facilities

Common illnesses expected to be treated:

  • Malaria
  • Respiratory infections
  • Gastrointestinal illnesses
  • Skin conditions
  • Eye infections
  • Allergies and conjunctivitis

A Dedicated Medical Team

Medical staff and volunteers

This mission is led by experienced and compassionate professionals on the ground.

St. Francis Hospital will provide 27 trained medical professionals to serve at the camp.

They will be joined by:

  • 20 medical students from our CARITAS graduate network
  • Volunteer medical professionals and missioners visiting from outside Uganda

Together, this team will work to serve up to 1,000 patients in a single day!

Help Us Reach Our Goal

Child at medical camp

To bring this medical camp to life, we need to raise $7,830 —and every gift makes a difference.

Your donation directly provides:

  • Essential medications
  • Eyeglasses for patients with vision problems
  • Medical tool and treatment supplies
  • Sanitation and hygiene materials
  • Meals for medical professionals serving throughout the day
  • Set-up and tear-down of the medical camp
  • Equipment needed to safely treat patients

Every gift, no matter the size, helps bring care to someone who would otherwise go without.

This medical camp is part of a larger Jubilee Celebration taking place in Uganda.

If you feel called to serve, we invite medical professionals and volunteers alike to join us for this 10-day mission experience—featuring service, celebration, pilgrimage, and the beauty of Uganda.
