Joseph Mukasa Kityamuweesi is a 22-year-old Ugandan born in Kitenga, Masaka district. Raised in a devout Catholic family, his spiritual journey began early in life. Inspired by altar servers while in Primary Six and deeply moved by the preaching of his parish priest, He felt a strong desire to serve God as a catholic priest. As he grew, so did his commitment — he joined the church choir, and learned to play the piano for Mass. While on school holidays, he actively used his music talent to train few choirs and earn some money which he saved to buy his school requirements. He participated in acatechism classes and promoted devotions to Divine Mercy.
Among the five children of the family, only one sister managed to achieve a degree of secondary education, while the other sisters left home to start new life after failing to attend school due to the family finical constraints. The head of the family is currently indisposed of work and cannot earn income now, he was a builder but because of his ill health, he cannot carry on with the job.
