Emmanuel Kizito's Story;

I am EMMANUEL KIZITO. I am a Ugandan and I am 18 years old. I am from Wakiso and a Catholic. I have two brothers and a sister. My parents are Mr. Musoke Emmanuel and Ms. Zawedde Edith Musoke.  They are both primary school teachers.

I went to Wakiso town primary school for my primary and i joined St Joseph's seminary Nyenga for my secondary in 2020. I have just completed my O level exams and i wish to continue with St Joseph's seminary Nyenga for my A level.

The passion for priesthood came when i was in my preprimary when i used to go with my dad for Sunday mass and still after mass, we would come back home and after changing the Sunday wear, I would gather my friends from the neighborhood and organize something more like a church and have mass, me as the priest. We would have songs and readings plus consecration and after i would dismiss them as it done by the priest. I later went for Catechesis which after its completion I joined alter serving after a long yearn for it. From here, I got to know about the stages for priesthood, that is; seminary formation and I prayed so hard to join one. Then my dad took me for seminary interviews which i passed and i joined St Joseph's seminary Nyenga on 4th February 2020.

It has been a rough journey in terms of funds during my study time where it would be by chance that my parents would go for a school fees loan for all of us which was also hectic and challenging since their income was low. Or, either one of my elder siblings would be on a school fees bursary after good performance. The situation was also the same at the seminary level where my parents could do the same but still it was hard. My younger brother has also just completed his Primary Leaving exams and he also wishes to join the seminary level, but it might be harder for my parents since they are reaching their retirement, and it is also a hard nut to crack in terms of their low income considering also their home needs and our requirements. And it is hard for them to borrow loans at this moment. All this might lead to a change of institutions which may affect my vocation and the one of my younger brothers or even dropping out of school. I am worried!

God willing, My PRAYER is that if i can get someone to pay for me some money of my tuition in my favor and my brother so that we can reach our dreams.

I thank you for taking your precious time to read my story, May God bless you and have success in all your endeavors.

About my community:
St. Francis of Assisi (Lugazi)
In the Lugazi Diocese, CARITAS finds some of the poorest families in all of Uganda. Because of St. Francis of Assisi's great love for the poor, he is the patron of this community. We pray for his intercession so that more children in this diocese have a chance to overcome the poverty that they have always known.
About my country:
Uganda
Known as the "Pearl of Africa," Uganda is located on the shores of Lake Victoria in the Great Lakes region of East Africa. Since emerging from decades of civil war and the devastation of AIDs, estimates indicate that 48% of Uganda's population is below the age of 15. Young children suffer disproportionately in the struggle to access healthcare, education, and clean water.
