Victoria is a young girl who has faced several challenges in her life since her father's passing. Initially, her mother and grandmother worked together to support the family and send Victoria to school. They relied on farming and selling surplus crops, as well as collecting and selling firewood to cover basic household needs and Victoria's educational expenses.

Tragically, Victoria's mother passed away a year after her husband, leaving the family in a more difficult situation. Victoria's grandmother, who was already struggling to care for the children, faced increased challenges due to her age, particularly with the physically demanding tasks of farming and collecting firewood.

Victoria, despite her family's financial hardships, remains determined to become a doctor. However, her irregular school attendance due to financial constraints threatens her dreams. In light of these circumstances, her grandmother is reaching out to Caritas for Children, seeking assistance and support to ensure that Victoria can pursue her education and work towards her goal of becoming a doctor.

About my community:
St. Francis of Assisi (Lugazi)
In the Lugazi Diocese, CARITAS finds some of the poorest families in all of Uganda. Because of St. Francis of Assisi's great love for the poor, he is the patron of this community. We pray for his intercession so that more children in this diocese have a chance to overcome the poverty that they have always known.
About my country:
Uganda
Known as the "Pearl of Africa," Uganda is located on the shores of Lake Victoria in the Great Lakes region of East Africa. Since emerging from decades of civil war and the devastation of AIDs, estimates indicate that 48% of Uganda's population is below the age of 15. Young children suffer disproportionately in the struggle to access healthcare, education, and clean water.
