Robinah lives with both of her parents, who are peasant farmers. Her mother sells produce from their small garden and sometimes supplements it by purchasing goods from other local farmers. Her father stays busy working in the garden and also takes on occasional casual work such as cleaning compounds for wealthier households.

The income earned by both parents is used to support the family and pay school fees for their children. However, their earnings are not consistent, as farm produce is seasonal. At times, the mother is unable to harvest enough from their own garden and must buy from other farmers, which further reduces the already limited income. This makes it difficult for the family to maintain a stable and decent standard of living.

Robinah attends a nearby school in her community. She enjoys being in school and prefers to remain in class without being sent home due to outstanding fee balances.

With support, Robinah would be able to attend school consistently, focus on her studies, and work toward achieving her academic goals.

About my community:
St. Francis of Assisi (Lugazi)
In the Lugazi Diocese, CARITAS finds some of the poorest families in all of Uganda. Because of St. Francis of Assisi's great love for the poor, he is the patron of this community. We pray for his intercession so that more children in this diocese have a chance to overcome the poverty that they have always known.
About my country:
Uganda
Known as the "Pearl of Africa," Uganda is located on the shores of Lake Victoria in the Great Lakes region of East Africa. Since emerging from decades of civil war and the devastation of AIDs, estimates indicate that 48% of Uganda's population is below the age of 15. Young children suffer disproportionately in the struggle to access healthcare, education, and clean water.
