Pius Katasaaba
Both of Pius's parents are alive, but living below the poverty line. They have a small piece of land on which they grow crops to feed their family, and the small surplus they are able to produce is sold to buy essential supplies like salt, paraffin wax, etc.
Pius has not had steady attendance at school because he does not meet the school's requirements. He has been sent home to collect what his school requires such as school fees and supplies. When this happens, it could take weeks for him to be able to return to school.
Pius is a smart child and if assisted through CARITAS for children, he will have a chance to fulfill his dream of becoming a teacher.

St. Francis of Assisi (Lugazi)
In the Lugazi Diocese, CARITAS finds some of the poorest families in all of Uganda. Because of St. Francis of Assisi's great love for the poor, he is the patron of this community. We pray for his intercession so that more children in this diocese have a chance to overcome the poverty that they have always known.

Young children suffer disproportionately in the struggle to access healthcare, education, and clean water.
