Onesmas is the youngest of six children of parents who are peasant farmers. His parents never had a chance to get an education themselves since they grew up orphans as a result of the Luweero War in the 1980’s. Since they have no formal job skills or training, they work in other people’s gardens to earn enough for their family to survive on.
Onesmas is a kind boy dreams of becoming a pilot if he is able to go to school and get an education, which will be difficult for him to do without a sponsorship.
About my community:
Mary Queen of Families (Kasana-Luweero)
The Kasana-Luweero diocese suffered a massacre during the 1981-1986 civil war which left many children orphaned. As the effects of this tragedy are still felt today, we pray to Mary, Queen of Families to help build healthy families and restore hope in this diocese.

Since emerging from decades of civil war and the devastation of AIDs, estimates indicate that 48% of Uganda's population is below the age of 15. Young children suffer disproportionately in the struggle to access healthcare, education, and clean water.
