Mydeline Jn Baptiste
Haiti
DOB: 01/19/2015
Female
Favorite Subject: Reading
Favorite Pastime: Playing with other Kids

Mydeline was sponsored briefly in 2020 but has since lost her sponsor, and she badly needs a new one so that she can go to school, which will ease some of the burden on her family.

Mydeline lives with her parents and her two siblings. Her mother doesn’t work outside the home, and though her father works very hard, it isn’t enough to support their family and their financial situation is critical. They struggle to afford expenses like rent, and certainly cannot send their children to school.

Mydeline loves to read and write, and would thrive so much if she were able to go to school. Her only chance to do so is through sponsorship.

About my community:
St. Benedict (Port-au-Prince)
In the Archdiocese of Port-au-Prince, the Little Sisters of St. Thérèse teach our children the common curriculum and the Catholic faith. Since voodoo is so prevalent in Haiti, the patron saint whose intercession we pray for this community is St. Benedict.
About my country:
Haiti
Haiti takes up the westernmost one-third of the island of Hispaniola in the Caribbean Sea and is the most impoverished country in the Western Hemisphere. 80% of Haitians live below the poverty line, and over half of the population is under the age of twenty, making the education of Haiti’s young people a priority. These problems were magnified by the devastating earthquake in 2010.
