Miracle Joy stays with his mother and other eight siblings. Their father abandoned the home and decided to marry another woman whom they have stayed together for about a period of three years. He completely forgot about his matrimony wife and his children.

The mother struggles to make sure that her children survive by growing some crops and keeping some domestic animals which she sells and the income caters for the provision of the home essentials and the little money for the school fees of her children. Life hasn’t been easy for the abandoned family as sometimes they have to away with some meals of the day. The elder children get involved in selling some firewood and water so as to buy themselves clothes and shoes.

Miracle Joy is goes to school but the problem is lack of school requirements including school fees. If any assistance is extended to her, she will be able to settle and concentrate on her studies.

About my community:
St. Francis of Assisi (Lugazi)
In the Lugazi Diocese, CARITAS finds some of the poorest families in all of Uganda. Because of St. Francis of Assisi's great love for the poor, he is the patron of this community. We pray for his intercession so that more children in this diocese have a chance to overcome the poverty that they have always known.
About my country:
Uganda
Known as the "Pearl of Africa," Uganda is located on the shores of Lake Victoria in the Great Lakes region of East Africa. Since emerging from decades of civil war and the devastation of AIDs, estimates indicate that 48% of Uganda's population is below the age of 15. Young children suffer disproportionately in the struggle to access healthcare, education, and clean water.
