Mary experienced a traumatic blow when her father was attacked by robbers on his way home from work. They left him unconscious and stole his motorcycle, which was his means of earning a living. While he has recovered from his physical wounds, the injuries on his head have left him without his senses, creating an even more difficult situation for the family.

Her mother had already passed away before her father's injury, so Mary now stays with her grandmother. However, the grandmother is weak due to her old age and is unable to work to support the family. As a result, providing for the home essentials and paying Mary's tuition fees has become an immense challenge.

Despite the hardships, Mary exhibits signs of being a hardworking and determined girl. She dreams of becoming a doctor, but her current circumstances make it extremely difficult to pursue her aspirations.

By extending assistance to Mary and her family, the burden of their financial challenges can be eased. With the necessary support, Mary can focus on her education without the constant worry of unpaid tuition fees. With a stable learning environment, she can work towards her dream of becoming a doctor, making a positive impact in her community and beyond through compassionate healthcare.

About my community:
St. Francis of Assisi (Lugazi)
In the Lugazi Diocese, CARITAS finds some of the poorest families in all of Uganda. Because of St. Francis of Assisi's great love for the poor, he is the patron of this community. We pray for his intercession so that more children in this diocese have a chance to overcome the poverty that they have always known.
About my country:
Uganda
Known as the "Pearl of Africa," Uganda is located on the shores of Lake Victoria in the Great Lakes region of East Africa. Since emerging from decades of civil war and the devastation of AIDs, estimates indicate that 48% of Uganda's population is below the age of 15. Young children suffer disproportionately in the struggle to access healthcare, education, and clean water.
