Kevin lives with her mother and her younger brother, who has cerebral palsy. Their father abandoned them upon discovering their son's disability, and his whereabouts remain unknown. Kevin's mother has taken on the role of caretaker and provider, doing her best to make ends meet. She keeps a few chickens and cultivates a small piece of land to sell the produce in order to meet their basic needs.

Despite the challenging circumstances, Kevin is determined to pursue her education. However, her attendance at school is irregular due to the family's inability to pay school fees and provide the necessary classroom materials. This inconsistency has taken a toll on Kevin's academic performance, making it difficult for her to reach her full potential. Recognizing the importance of education, Kevin's mother is seeking assistance to ensure her daughter can attend school regularly and have access to the resources she needs to succeed.

Kevin's dream is to become a doctor, a testament to her ambition and desire to make a positive impact in the world. With the right support and opportunities, she believes she can overcome the barriers she faces and achieve her goals. By providing assistance to Kevin and her family, they can create a more stable and conducive environment for her education, helping her realize her dreams of becoming a doctor and making a difference in the lives of others.

About my community:
St. Francis of Assisi (Lugazi)
In the Lugazi Diocese, CARITAS finds some of the poorest families in all of Uganda. Because of St. Francis of Assisi's great love for the poor, he is the patron of this community. We pray for his intercession so that more children in this diocese have a chance to overcome the poverty that they have always known.
About my country:
Uganda
Known as the "Pearl of Africa," Uganda is located on the shores of Lake Victoria in the Great Lakes region of East Africa. Since emerging from decades of civil war and the devastation of AIDs, estimates indicate that 48% of Uganda's population is below the age of 15. Young children suffer disproportionately in the struggle to access healthcare, education, and clean water.
