Kevin’s story is a moving one; she had a happy life until she lost her father at only 6 year old. Since then, her life has been very challenging. She and her younger brother, Anthony Musibira, were left with their jobless mother. Their mother tried her best to find any possible income in order to provide for her family's needs, but her efforts ended in vain. She wasn't able to find a job.

The situation became increasingly difficult as the struggling widowed mother was overwhelmed with mounting costs. It became unbearable for her, and she ended up making the difficult decision to leave her children with their paternal aunt, where they currently live.

Their aunt has always tried her best to provide for them in terms of their basic and educational needs, but she can’t manage the gradually growing financial load of caring for her own daughter, her niece, and her nephew. She earns very little from farming and simple craft work.

Kevin ambitiously dreams of becoming a medical worker someday, and she is seeking support so that she can attend school regularly and have a chance to achieve her dream.

About my community:
St. Francis of Assisi (Lugazi)
In the Lugazi Diocese, CARITAS finds some of the poorest families in all of Uganda. Because of St. Francis of Assisi's great love for the poor, he is the patron of this community. We pray for his intercession so that more children in this diocese have a chance to overcome the poverty that they have always known.
About my country:
Uganda
Known as the "Pearl of Africa," Uganda is located on the shores of Lake Victoria in the Great Lakes region of East Africa. Since emerging from decades of civil war and the devastation of AIDs, estimates indicate that 48% of Uganda's population is below the age of 15. Young children suffer disproportionately in the struggle to access healthcare, education, and clean water.
