Jonathan Katumba
Jonathan lost his father at a young age, leaving him and his mother to face many challenges on their own. His mother has remained strong and hardworking, growing food on a small plot of land to feed the family and selling any surplus to help pay for Jonathan’s education.
They live together in a one-room home, and their limited income often means going without meals. Despite these hardships, his mother is committed to giving Jonathan the best chance at a better future.
With school fees becoming harder to manage, she has reached out to CARITAS For Children in hopes of finding a sponsor who can help Jonathan stay in school and continue working toward his dreams.

St. Francis of Assisi (Lugazi)
In the Lugazi Diocese, CARITAS finds some of the poorest families in all of Uganda. Because of St. Francis of Assisi's great love for the poor, he is the patron of this community. We pray for his intercession so that more children in this diocese have a chance to overcome the poverty that they have always known.

Since emerging from decades of civil war and the devastation of AIDs, estimates indicate that 48% of Uganda's population is below the age of 15. Young children suffer disproportionately in the struggle to access healthcare, education, and clean water.
