Janet has recently lost her longtime sponsor, and she needs a new one so that she can have a good chance of succeeding in life beyond peasant farming!

Janet lives with her mother and eight older siblings. Her father abandoned the family while Janet's mother was pregnant and they have not heard from him since. Janet's mother, Monica, is a sustenance farmer, which means she can grow enough food to feed their family, but does not have any additional income. 

All of Janet's siblings had to drop out of school because of lack of money to pay tuition fees, but her mother still wants Janet to finish school because she's still young and she hopes she will have the chance to finish her studies and be successful.
