Gorreth lives with her mother and siblings in the suburbs of a small trading center in central Uganda. Her parents separated after a prolonged period of domestic violence linked to her father’s alcohol use, which made the home environment unsafe for the children.
Her father did not have stable employment and mainly survived on casual jobs such as cleaning compounds for well-off households in the trading center. However, he often spent much of his time in drinking gatherings, which contributed to the family’s instability.
Gorreth’s mother now rents a small room where she also runs a small banana stall to support her six children. The income she earns is primarily used to provide food for the family, with only limited funds available to contribute toward school fees for her children, including Gorreth, Joselyn, and Carol.
Gorreth is a promising student with strong academic potential. With support, she would be able to continue attending school consistently and pursue her education in a more stable and hopeful environment.
