Gonzaga Wetala
Gonzaga is a bright and hardworking boy who believes that education is the key to changing his family’s situation. With nine children to care for, his father struggles to meet all their needs.
For several years, Gonzaga was blessed to have a CARITAS sponsor, which allowed him to receive a better education and make great progress in school. Sadly, he has now lost that sponsorship.
Gonzaga is determined to keep working toward his dreams, but he urgently needs a new sponsor to continue his education and secure a brighter future for himself and his family.

St. Francis of Assisi (Lugazi)
In the Lugazi Diocese, CARITAS finds some of the poorest families in all of Uganda. Because of St. Francis of Assisi's great love for the poor, he is the patron of this community. We pray for his intercession so that more children in this diocese have a chance to overcome the poverty that they have always known.

Known as the "Pearl of Africa," Uganda is located on the shores of Lake Victoria in the Great Lakes region of East Africa. Since emerging from decades of civil war and the devastation of AIDs, estimates indicate that 48% of Uganda's population is below the age of 15. Young children suffer disproportionately in the struggle to access healthcare, education, and clean water.
