Gloria's life took an unexpected turn when her father abandoned the family, leaving her mother to fend for their children on her own. Without any support, her mother sought refuge with her own parents, ultimately leaving Gloria and her siblings in the care of their grandmother. Since then, Gloria has grown up without the presence of her parents, with her grandmother stepping in as her primary caregiver and provider.

Despite these challenges, Gloria has shown a remarkable zeal for learning. She is currently enrolled in school and exhibits a strong enthusiasm towards her studies. However, financial constraints pose a significant barrier to her education, as her grandmother struggles to afford the tuition fees and classroom essentials necessary for Gloria to continue her education seamlessly.

Gloria's dream is to become a teacher, a goal that mirrors her love for learning and her desire to contribute positively to society. However, achieving this dream requires overcoming the financial hurdles that threaten to disrupt her educational journey. Support towards her tuition and educational needs would not only ensure her continuous attendance in school but also pave the way for her to realize her ambition of becoming a teacher and making a difference in the lives of others.

About my community:
St. Francis of Assisi (Lugazi)
In the Lugazi Diocese, CARITAS finds some of the poorest families in all of Uganda. Because of St. Francis of Assisi's great love for the poor, he is the patron of this community. We pray for his intercession so that more children in this diocese have a chance to overcome the poverty that they have always known.
About my country:
Uganda
Known as the "Pearl of Africa," Uganda is located on the shores of Lake Victoria in the Great Lakes region of East Africa. Since emerging from decades of civil war and the devastation of AIDs, estimates indicate that 48% of Uganda's population is below the age of 15. Young children suffer disproportionately in the struggle to access healthcare, education, and clean water.
