Favour William lives with both of his parents, but the family faces hardship in nearly every area of life. His father struggles to maintain steady employment and relies mostly on seasonal farm work like harvesting crops and helping on neighbors’ farms. The little he earns is barely enough to cover the basic needs of the household, leaving nothing left for school tuition or supplies.

Favour’s mother is unable to work due to a medical injury she suffered during childbirth. Doctors have advised her to avoid any strenuous activity to prevent further complications, so she stays at home and does only light tasks when she is able. With only one unstable income, the family’s situation remains very fragile.

Favour attends a nearby private school, but his attendance has been inconsistent because of unpaid tuition and required school materials. He is often sent home and cannot return until fees are settled, making it difficult for him to keep up with his classmates.

His parents have reached out to CARITAS For Children in hopes of easing their financial burdens and ensuring that Favour can continue his education without interruption. With support, he will be able to attend school regularly and pursue a brighter future.

About my community:
St. Francis of Assisi (Lugazi)
In the Lugazi Diocese, CARITAS finds some of the poorest families in all of Uganda. Because of St. Francis of Assisi's great love for the poor, he is the patron of this community. We pray for his intercession so that more children in this diocese have a chance to overcome the poverty that they have always known.
About my country:
Uganda
Known as the "Pearl of Africa," Uganda is located on the shores of Lake Victoria in the Great Lakes region of East Africa. Since emerging from decades of civil war and the devastation of AIDs, estimates indicate that 48% of Uganda's population is below the age of 15. Young children suffer disproportionately in the struggle to access healthcare, education, and clean water.
