Eric's life took a difficult turn when his father abandoned the family, leaving his mother to care for him and his siblings on her own. To make ends meet, his mother works tirelessly, going door to door offering laundry services in exchange for money. Sometimes, she takes up labor-intensive jobs like digging in people's gardens to earn food for her children.

Eric is a promising student who attends classes at a nearby privately-owned school. However, his education has been interrupted frequently due to financial constraints. He is often sent home because his family cannot afford the necessary classroom supplies and school fees. Despite these challenges, Eric's academic performance has shown great promise, reflecting his determination to succeed.

Eric dreams of becoming a shopkeeper in the future. He has a strong drive to achieve his goals, but regular attendance in school is crucial for him to realize his dreams. Any assistance provided to Eric will help ensure that he can attend classes consistently, giving him the stability and support he needs to work toward his future aspirations.

About my community:
St. Francis of Assisi (Lugazi)
In the Lugazi Diocese, CARITAS finds some of the poorest families in all of Uganda. Because of St. Francis of Assisi's great love for the poor, he is the patron of this community. We pray for his intercession so that more children in this diocese have a chance to overcome the poverty that they have always known.
About my country:
Uganda
Known as the "Pearl of Africa," Uganda is located on the shores of Lake Victoria in the Great Lakes region of East Africa. Since emerging from decades of civil war and the devastation of AIDs, estimates indicate that 48% of Uganda's population is below the age of 15. Young children suffer disproportionately in the struggle to access healthcare, education, and clean water.
