Eric’s father left his mother pregnant with Eric and the mother was a child living with her mother (Eric’s grandmother). The mother dropped him at her mother's place to go and look for work as she had dropped out of school then, she got a job of being a housemaid and it didn’t work out for her, she got another job cleaning someone’s compound and that too didn’t work out of which the grandmother is also a poor widow who is just helped with where to stay.
Right now, the mother is not employed, and the grandmother is squatting in a house that was given to her by a friend when she had lost a husband who did not have a house for the family. Eric wants to become a doctor in the future if he gets a chance of completing his education.
