Edwine Kigongo
The father drown in the lake and died in 2017 and left Edwine and his three brothers with the mother who was a gardener. Edwine's mother digs in people's gardens to get food and some money to buy some other necessities but is unable to support the children's education.
Edwine has been getting assistance from CARITAS For Children to access education until recently when he lost his sponsorship. He is a hardworking boy who struggles to see that he becomes a situation changer of the family in the future when he is given an opportunity of completing his education.

St. Francis of Assisi (Lugazi)
In the Lugazi Diocese, CARITAS finds some of the poorest families in all of Uganda. Because of St. Francis of Assisi's great love for the poor, he is the patron of this community. We pray for his intercession so that more children in this diocese have a chance to overcome the poverty that they have always known.

Since emerging from decades of civil war and the devastation of AIDs, estimates indicate that 48% of Uganda's population is below the age of 15. Young children suffer disproportionately in the struggle to access healthcare, education, and clean water.
