Doreen Nangobi
Doreen has faced some tough challenges in her young life, but she remains determined to succeed. After losing her father in 2014, she and her mother were forced to leave their home. Unable to afford the rent, Doreen's mother decided to send her to live with her aunt. While her aunt has done her best to provide for the family, there are simply too many mouths to feed, and Doreen's education has suffered as a result.
Despite these obstacles, Doreen is a bright and ambitious student. She dreams of becoming a doctor someday so that she can help others in need. With the support of Caritas, she believes that she can make this dream a reality. By providing her with the resources she needs to complete her education, a sponsor will help Doreen build a brighter future for herself and her family.

St. Francis of Assisi (Lugazi)
In the Lugazi Diocese, CARITAS finds some of the poorest families in all of Uganda. Because of St. Francis of Assisi's great love for the poor, he is the patron of this community. We pray for his intercession so that more children in this diocese have a chance to overcome the poverty that they have always known.

Since emerging from decades of civil war and the devastation of AIDs, estimates indicate that 48% of Uganda's population is below the age of 15. Young children suffer disproportionately in the struggle to access healthcare, education, and clean water.
