Doreen Namigadde
Doreen's mother tried to pay for Doreen's education, but she was only able to afford the first term of classes before she ran out of money. Her husband abandoned her with the children, and she doesn't have a job that can sustain her family.
Doreen is currently living her her paternal aunt who lost her job and is struggling to make ends meet.
If she's able to return to school, Doreen dreams of becoming a doctor one day.

St. Francis of Assisi (Lugazi)
In the Lugazi Diocese, CARITAS finds some of the poorest families in all of Uganda. Because of St. Francis of Assisi's great love for the poor, he is the patron of this community. We pray for his intercession so that more children in this diocese have a chance to overcome the poverty that they have always known.

Since emerging from decades of civil war and the devastation of AIDs, estimates indicate that 48% of Uganda's population is below the age of 15. Young children suffer disproportionately in the struggle to access healthcare, education, and clean water.
