Dalton lives in a small home with his mother, one brother, and one sister. The family has been experiencing a period of hardship in accessing their basic needs since the father abandoned the family. The family frequently misses meals because Dalton's mother struggles to provide for the family as she doesn't have a stable job.

Dalton's mother does laundry for some neighbors, but this task earns her very little. What she earns is used to buy a few home essentials, but leaves nothing to cover the children’s school fees. Dalton goes to school, but his attendance is very irregular because of his mother’s inconsistent income which prevents the family from covering all of Dalton's school fees.

Dalton's mother has asked CARITAS For Children to help her in any way possible so that she can keep her children in school. If assistance is extended to this boy and his family, he will be able to realize his dream of becoming a police man.

About my community:
St. Francis of Assisi (Lugazi)
In the Lugazi Diocese, CARITAS finds some of the poorest families in all of Uganda. Because of St. Francis of Assisi's great love for the poor, he is the patron of this community. We pray for his intercession so that more children in this diocese have a chance to overcome the poverty that they have always known.
About my country:
Uganda
Known as the "Pearl of Africa," Uganda is located on the shores of Lake Victoria in the Great Lakes region of East Africa. Since emerging from decades of civil war and the devastation of AIDs, estimates indicate that 48% of Uganda's population is below the age of 15. Young children suffer disproportionately in the struggle to access healthcare, education, and clean water.
