Cynthia lost her sponsor and in great need of a new sponsor to continue with her education.

Cynthia was born in Northern Uganda in Acholi tribe living with her mother and her 3 siblings. She is the youngest of 4 children and the only girl in the family. Her parents are separated and all the children live with their mother. Out of the 3 boys, 2 are being sponsored by CARITAS and the eldest is being supported for by his maternal Aunt.
Beatrice (Cynthia's mother) works as a matron in one of the community Primary Schools and she
is paid less about $50 which is not enough to take care of the family needs but that is the only way she can provide for the children’s other basic needs and the aunty sometimes steps in.
Cynthia is a very bright girl; she is the top second best in her class and a very promising leader since she has started exhibiting this at this early age by campaigning for a position of an office prefect which went through
and also a position of a head girl in her school.
She loves schooling as it is seen in her persistence to walk over 6kms every day
in pursuit of education.
The father does not support them in anyway, he is a drunkard and has children with other women whom he is not supporting as well, others have dropped out of school and Cynthia does not want the same to happen to her and it will not if she gets a new sponsor.

About my community:
St. Ignatius of Loyola (Gulu)
In the Archdiocese of Gulu, CARITAS provides our ministry in collaboration with the East African Province of Jesuits. Since our children go to schools run by the Jesuits, the patron saint whose intercession we ask in this community is St. Ignatius of Loyola, founder of the Society of Jesus.
About my country:
Uganda
Known as the "Pearl of Africa," Uganda is located on the shores of Lake Victoria in the Great Lakes region of East Africa. Since emerging from decades of civil war and the devastation of AIDs, estimates indicate that 48% of Uganda's population is below the age of 15. Young children suffer disproportionately in the struggle to access healthcare, education, and clean water.
