Bushirah Nalukenge
Bushirah is being raised by her single mother after her father abandoned the family due to domestic violence. Since then, her mother has shouldered full responsibility for Bushirah and her siblings, working as a primary school teacher. Despite her dedication, her modest salary is not enough to cover both basic needs and school fees.
Bushirah was fortunate to receive sponsorship through CARITAS For Children, which supported her education for seven years. Unfortunately, she recently lost that sponsorship, placing her education at risk.
Her mother is now seeking renewed support so that Bushirah can continue her schooling and work toward a brighter future. With sponsorship, Bushirah can complete her education and pursue her dreams.

In the Lugazi Diocese, CARITAS finds some of the poorest families in all of Uganda. Because of St. Francis of Assisi's great love for the poor, he is the patron of this community. We pray for his intercession so that more children in this diocese have a chance to overcome the poverty that they have always known

Since emerging from decades of civil war and the devastation of AIDs, estimates indicate that 48% of Uganda's population is below the age of 15. Young children suffer disproportionately in the struggle to access healthcare, education, and clean water.
