Brianna and her two sisters live with their mother in a village near a small trading center. The family has been struggling since the tragic death of their father, who was killed in a car accident while crossing the road near their home. The accident was fatal as one of his ribs damaged his liver, and despite efforts to save him, he passed away.

Their mother, who had been a housewife dependent on her husband's income, is now in a state of confusion and despair. She is overwhelmed by the sudden responsibility of providing for the family and is unsure how to meet her daughters' educational needs. The financial strain has left her pondering how to secure their future amidst such difficult circumstances.

Despite the hardships in her young life, Briana is a very hardworking and optimistic little girl. Support would enable Briana to remain in school and work towards her dream of becoming a teacher, offering hope for a brighter future.

About my community:
St. Francis of Assisi (Lugazi)
In the Lugazi Diocese, CARITAS finds some of the poorest families in all of Uganda. Because of St. Francis of Assisi's great love for the poor, he is the patron of this community. We pray for his intercession so that more children in this diocese have a chance to overcome the poverty that they have always known.
About my country:
Uganda
Known as the "Pearl of Africa," Uganda is located on the shores of Lake Victoria in the Great Lakes region of East Africa. Since emerging from decades of civil war and the devastation of AIDs, estimates indicate that 48% of Uganda's population is below the age of 15. Young children suffer disproportionately in the struggle to access healthcare, education, and clean water.
