Blessing Esther, her sister, brother, and mother live together in a small rented house on the outskirts of a small town. They have been enduring a challenging life without the presence of a father, who left without any explanation, and all attempts to locate him have been unsuccessful.

Blessing Esther's mother sells tomatoes in the town, earning a meager income that primarily covers home essentials. Any surplus is used to meet some of the children's school needs. However, this income is often insufficient to provide for all the necessities.

Blessing Esther is a dedicated and hardworking pupil, but her school attendance is irregular due to the lack of necessary resources and financial support. Despite these challenges, she continues to strive in her studies with the dream of becoming a doctor. If assistance is extended to her to cover school costs, she has the potential to excel in her education and achieve her aspirations.

About my community:
St. Francis of Assisi (Lugazi)
In the Lugazi Diocese, CARITAS finds some of the poorest families in all of Uganda. Because of St. Francis of Assisi's great love for the poor, he is the patron of this community. We pray for his intercession so that more children in this diocese have a chance to overcome the poverty that they have always known.
About my country:
Uganda
Known as the "Pearl of Africa," Uganda is located on the shores of Lake Victoria in the Great Lakes region of East Africa. Since emerging from decades of civil war and the devastation of AIDs, estimates indicate that 48% of Uganda's population is below the age of 15. Young children suffer disproportionately in the struggle to access healthcare, education, and clean water.
