The unexpected passing of Angella’s father drastically altered her family's life. He had started his day like any other, tending to his routine gardening work despite experiencing chest pains. Concern arose when he uncharacteristically missed lunch, prompting one of his children to check on him. Tragically, they discovered he had passed away while working in the gardens.

Since then, the family's daily life has been steeped in hardship. They often find themselves skipping meals and the children, including Angella, frequently miss school due to the inability to fulfill educational expenses. This has been a significant setback for the family, which was once steadied by the father's contributions.

Angella, who shows great academic promise and talent in co-curricular activities like dancing, now finds her future uncertain. She harbors aspirations of becoming a nurse, a dream that now hinges on receiving external assistance. Support for her education could be a transformative step in enabling her to pursue her goals and bring some stability back to her family's life.

About my community:
St. Francis of Assisi (Lugazi)
In the Lugazi Diocese, CARITAS finds some of the poorest families in all of Uganda. Because of St. Francis of Assisi's great love for the poor, he is the patron of this community. We pray for his intercession so that more children in this diocese have a chance to overcome the poverty that they have always known.
About my country:
Uganda
Known as the "Pearl of Africa," Uganda is located on the shores of Lake Victoria in the Great Lakes region of East Africa. Since emerging from decades of civil war and the devastation of AIDs, estimates indicate that 48% of Uganda's population is below the age of 15. Young children suffer disproportionately in the struggle to access healthcare, education, and clean water.
