Patience Correta comes from a family of four siblings, consisting of three sisters and one brother. Her mother, who is a housewife, bears the responsibility of supporting the family. The whereabouts of their father are unknown, leaving the mother to fulfill the roles of both parents in the household. Their home is situated in a village in Nkokonjeru, approximately 8km away from Correta's school.

Correta has been attending classes despite numerous hardships. She often lacks essential school requirements such as fees, books, and pencils, not to mention the necessary items for the dormitory. Unfortunately, the school administration has a policy of withholding report cards from parents who have outstanding school obligations, which frequently affects Correta.

Correta possesses great potential and intelligence. With assistance, she can fulfill her dream of becoming a doctor and making a positive impact.

About my community:
St. Francis of Assisi (Lugazi)
In the Lugazi Diocese, CARITAS finds some of the poorest families in all of Uganda. Because of St. Francis of Assisi's great love for the poor, he is the patron of this community. We pray for his intercession so that more children in this diocese have a chance to overcome the poverty that they have always known.
About my country:
Uganda
Known as the "Pearl of Africa," Uganda is located on the shores of Lake Victoria in the Great Lakes region of East Africa. Since emerging from decades of civil war and the devastation of AIDs, estimates indicate that 48% of Uganda's population is below the age of 15. Young children suffer disproportionately in the struggle to access healthcare, education, and clean water.
