Johanna has been in the Home for a month after being placed at high social risk. Her mother suffers from a mental illness, which has prevented Johanna from being able to live with her since birth. Despite the challenges she has faced, Johanna now has the opportunity to grow up in a safe and supportive environment, thanks to this Institution’s dedication to protecting vulnerable children.

Johanna is a kind and loving girl who, despite her difficult circumstances, remains hopeful and determined. She dreams of becoming a doctor someday so she can help others and make a positive impact on the world. Her resilience and desire to improve herself every day are truly inspiring.

This Institution is committed to providing Johanna with the care, education, and nurturing environment she needs to thrive. Sponsorship will help Johanna stay on the path toward achieving her dreams, ensuring she grows up with dignity, security, and access to the opportunities she deserves. Your support could change Johanna’s life and help her build a brighter future.

About my community:
St. Teresa of Avila (San Juan)
In the diocese of San Juan, CARITAS provides our ministry in collaboration with the Carmelite Sisters. Because our children are being taught and brought up by these sisters, the patron saint whose intercession we ask for this community is St. Teresa of Avila, a famous Carmelite saint.
About my country:
Dominican Republic
The Dominican Republic, on the eastern side of the island of Hispaniola, is frequently pummeled by hurricanes and tropical storms that can significantly impact the lives of poor people. Over 34% of Dominicans live below the poverty line, and in addition, many Haitian children have fled here in the aftermath of the 2010 and 2020 earthquake.
