During the desperate conditions Sarah was going through with her four children, a man assisted Sarah with basic necessities for about a month. He and Sarah ended up entering into a relationship, and she became pregnant. When he learnt that Sarah was pregnant, the man (Ikiran's father) denied responsibility and pressured her to terminate the pregnancy which Sarah refused and eventually gave birth to her fifth child, a baby girl. Since then, Sarah has been on her own with Ikiran and her 4 sons who are orphans.

Ikiran's mother digs in people's gardens to get food and other survival needs, they have survived on mercies of good samaritans, with no parmanent home and no desent meals but just survival.

While her elder siblings have got a sponsorship opportunity including Edwine who lost his sponsor previously, she too need sponsorship to get education. She is a happy and always smiling girl innocent of the family struggles.
