Costanzia, a five-year-old girl, lives with both of her parents, facing considerable challenges. Her father is not only physically disabled but also deaf, rendering him unable to sustain himself through employment. The family, formed later in life, has two children, and Costanzia's mother is the primary caregiver for both her children and her disabled husband. Unfortunately, her limited education options restrict her from securing a full-time job, compounding the family's financial struggles.

The irregular attendance of Costanzia at school is a direct consequence of her parents' inability to consistently cover tuition fees. While the school receives some assistance through donations, it falls short of meeting the financial requirements for the children. Costanzia's family is in dire need of support to pay her school fees and provide essential school supplies, enabling her to attend regularly. Despite these challenges, Costanzia is described as a sweet and generous girl with a passion for learning. The family hopes that with assistance, she can overcome these obstacles and fulfill her dream of becoming a successful and self-reliant individual.

About my community:
St. Francis of Assisi (Lugazi)
In the Lugazi Diocese, CARITAS finds some of the poorest families in all of Uganda. Because of St. Francis of Assisi's great love for the poor, he is the patron of this community. We pray for his intercession so that more children in this diocese have a chance to overcome the poverty that they have always known.
About my country:
Uganda
Known as the "Pearl of Africa," Uganda is located on the shores of Lake Victoria in the Great Lakes region of East Africa. Since emerging from decades of civil war and the devastation of AIDs, estimates indicate that 48% of Uganda's population is below the age of 15. Young children suffer disproportionately in the struggle to access healthcare, education, and clean water.
