Adopt A Nun
At its inception, CARITAS For Children perceived the partnership of Catholic Religious Men and Women doing the work they have dedicated their lives to doing, not simply as a job or even a vocation per se…but more…as a way of life. How could CARITAS For Children find a better partner to exist almost anywhere in the world?
We could not. Working among their people, in hospitals, schools, homeless shelters, orphanages, working, as teachers and nurses, propagating their faith through their dedication, compassion and hard work are the individuals doing the work in the many places that CARITAS For Children’s programs are found today. Linked to the video next to this text is a story of one such congregation. Please take a few moments to view this…and if you agree and want to participate in this program, please read on and click below to the many opportunities available through CARITAS For Children…to Adopt A Nun.
Help Those Who Dedicate Their Lives
“Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith; If service, in our serving; the one who teaches, in his teaching…” Romans 12:6-7

CARITAS For Children partners with indigenous groups of men and women religious for all of their programs in all of the locations where CARITAS is found. Presently CARITAS is working with men and women religious located in Africa, Eastern Europe and the Caribbean.
While it is extremely beneficial to work with Program Partners who are indigenous to the countries where CARITAS For Children exists, it also presents a challenge in that these countries provide little financial support for the education of the members of Religious Orders, and therefore they must look outside of their own country for ways to help them in their own personnel development.
As a commitment to its partners, CARITAS For Children now offers support to educate their women religious to empower these women to qualify for positions of leadership and advancements in schools, hospitals, administrative services, community and business development throughout the countries where they live and serve the children supported by CARITAS For Children. It is called Adopt-A-Nun.
The CARITAS Adopt-A-Nun program is designed to educate its selected candidates at home in the countries of their origin. In so doing, the cost for a complete University level education will be the least costly…compared to seeking education in other countries, such as in the UK or USA or European Universities…the cost for transportation and other expenses such as medical insurance and the emotional cost of sending a student to a school thousands of miles away is also eliminated. Of course, having the exchange of students for increasing diversity of a student’s outlook about other places in the world can be enriching to the individual, CARITAS’ partners are very happy to have their member close to home where they will receive an adequate level of knowledge and credential to be qualified to take important positions of leadership and authority in the many schools and hospitals and places where they can work and also bring with them their unique spirituality and the charism of their religious vocations.
Adopting-A-Nun will enrich the family of those willing to make this commitment. Each candidate chosen for this program has taken first and in many times final vows as a member of the LSOSF. They are committed to their life’s vocation. Most have already served many years as a Religious Sister. They are all anxious to be connected to their own family who will adopt them and they will forever have their new family in their prayers and in any way they can, serve as a beacon of spiritual light for her adopted family…even if they may not ever meet them in person. An application for each candidate chosen for this program can be reviewed by clicking one of the buttons below. There you will find your Sister waiting with a personalized individual Video to introduce herself to you along with a complete brief biography about each one and their interests for their educational program.
